Nikki had a pretty good day, we are trying to keep her pain under control. Nikki is using oxygen, she doesn't have to but feels more comfortable having it. Nikki is not eating much any more and trys to drink as much as she can. She is very weak and sleeps or rests quietly most of the day. Nikki talks a little but very softly, she will usually just nod her head if you ask her a question. After everything Nikki has been through she is still so beautiful and we are so amazed by her strong will, she is an amazing woman. We are so grateful for everyday we have with Nikki, she is such a blessing.
A Hospice nurse came in the morning and helped us with how to best care for Nikki. Pastor Betty from Nikki and Brian's healing class came to visit. Pastor Betty prayed with Nikki and Brian and anointed Nikki with oil. Nikki also had a number of other visitors spend time with her.
Joann read more of the blog comments to Nikki today. It is nice to see Nikki smile when she hears some of the comments and the stories people share. Nikki's neice Holly and nephew Hugo spent some time at the house and Nikki was able to see Holly's cute smile and Hugo's big brown eyes.

Okay Nik, I have the best story! One of the first times I really got to know Nikki was at an ORTC company picnic. My manager at the time, Ann Stirling, talked me into doing the lawn ski competition. It was the ladies of Santa Clara county vs. the ladies of San Mateo county. Being a tall gal, and having very little athletic ability, I thought I was safest being the last one on the ski. We took off, Ann was the leader, we were in the lead and it was very exciting. Our coworkers were cheering us on. Then, we got to one end of the field and BAM, everyone on the ski jumped off, turned around, and jumped back on. Guess who was the leader now? Yours truley, right in front. Thats when I realized I was nose to nose with Nikki, she yelled "turn around, we are winning". Our reign of glory soon ended, I fell. Not once, not twice, but many, many times. We would try to take a step, and I would fall to my knees. I remember Nik trying to hold onto my belt loop to keep me up. Now the best part about this story is that I was wearing a skirt! O yes I was! Nikki got quite an eye full Im sure! I hope this makes ya laugh a little, it still makes my face turn red.
I am so glad I had the honor of working with you, and getting to know you Nik! You my friend are truly beautiful inside and out. Thank you so much for enriching my life, just by being you.
May God's love and peace surround you!
Mel :-)
Dearest, Nikki
We continue to have you in our thoughts and prayers. You're such an amazing person, with a beautiful smile. Thank you so much for allowing us into your home and sharing your beautiful Hawaii pictures.
We will continue to pray for a miracle, because the good Lord made you in an amazing and wonderful way, and everyday holds the possibility of a miracle.
With Love, Armida & Mike Rivera
